Backup is alive!

Ideas are collected, drafts developed, artists engaged and nerves strained ? preparations are running full speed ahead ? there are only 121 days to go untill the final curtain falls. The 13th edition of the international backup_festival will take place between 5th and 8th of May 2011 in Weimar.

Presently the tendering procedure is on in different categories. In this year?s edition backup focuses on backup.award as well as on backup.clip.award. backup.award is characterized by a creative examination of different ways of expression and various production techniques centering their influence on narration, production and distribution chains. By creating an unusual symbiosis of film and music using miscellaneous media related production techniques the backup.clip.award finds its content, consisting of extraordinary music video clips.

Decisive for a successfully held event are on the one hand side the pieces of art that are created, but on the other side the artists themselves. Backup offers the chance for an inspiring get together of the very young media culture´s members, the interaction and the dialog of performing artists, professionals, the industry of media and the audience as well. A trip lasting four days will take place at the traditional location of Weimar´s former tram depot(Lichthaus-Kino). Being a assimiable small town Weimar changes into the venue of artists from all over the world. Owing to the hosts, the Bauhaus-University Weimar and therewith connected the Bauhaus Film-Institute (BFI), an extraordinary event develops ? films are
presented, artists are introduces, maginations are exalted and
creativity is honored.

To guarantee the festival´s success the posting of multitudinous inputs are essential. Entries must be submitted before the deadline on February 15th, 2011. Film technicians of international art schools, art academies, media und designs schools, universities attend the
backup_festival in Weimar.
