O U I Performance invite proposals for performance works by artists at any stage of their career for a series of events entitled Action Art Now.
Action Art Now is a 12 month programme of performance events in York UK, curated by O U I Performance, supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Between June 2011 and June 2012, O U I Performance will programme 6 events culminating in an accompanying publication.
Presenting new work by national and international, emerging, mid-career and established artists; Action Art Now will provoke a re-thinking of the term ‘Action’ in relation to practices of Writing, Sound, Sculpture and Choreography.
O U I Performance, founded in 2010 by Victoria Gray & Nathan Walker, is a not-for-profit, artist-led organisation based in York.
Successful applicants will be invited to perform in one of six events, all artists will receive:
• An artists Fee of £175
• Financial assistance towards travel costs
• Information / Images / Marketing / Links from our website
• Copy of Documentation
• Accommodation
Eligibility
• No formal qualifications are needed to apply
• Applications are not accepted from Undergraduate Students
• Applications will be accepted from both national and international artists.
However, O U I Performance can only contribute a small amount of assistance for travel cost, please consider this before making an application
• O U I Performance are interested in programming experimental practices that may be described as: Performance Art, Action Art, Actionism, Live Art, Time-based art. We encourage applicants to refer to our website in order to see the kinds of works we have programmed previously and to take this into consideration when applying
• O U I Performance only accept applications for live work
• Applications are for NEW WORK ONLY
